Plane leaves for Sydney in about 3 hours. Too lazy for more than a brief update, but suffice it to say, I'm having a blast down here. I've spent a few days wandering around in Melbourne, visiting the Queen Victoria Market, the Immigration Museum, Federation Square and the Gallery there, and just enjoying the food. Melbourne has the most cosmopolitan and diverse food selection of any city I've ever seen in my life: I'm moving here, sooner or later, simply for the dining to be had.
Spent a day going down the Great Ocean Road with Amie, to see some of the most beautiful coastline I've ever laid eyes on. Spent a day going up to the Healesville Sanctuary zoo with Michelle, where I petted a kangaroo, chased the emus, listened to a lyrebird imitate a hacksaw, and was attacked by a vicious black cockatoo. Spent the next 5 days up at Kevington--a shack that Kate's family owns in the bush. Most primitive 5 days of my life, and I loved it. Learned how to start a fire, play 500 (a weird variant on Spades and Bridge), french braided a lot, and just in general took long walks and had highly intelligent conversation. Amie and her friends rank among some of the most intelligent and erudite people that I've ever run into.
Soooo, yes. That's a really brief overview of a packed two weeks.
I get back around 9:30 PM on July 20th. See you guys soon.
